Announcing the MPavilion / Art Monthly Writing Award
As part of our commitment to celebrating the value of design, MPavilion is partnering with Art Monthly Australia to present an innovative new writing award exploring the flourishing field of interdisciplinary practice within art and design. The award will be administered by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).
Australian writers are invited to submit a proposal of no more than 200 words—for an essay of no more than 2,000 words—exploring one or more aspects of the relationship between art and design today. The winning writer will receive $3,000 to develop their submission for an essay to be published in the October 2015 issue of Art Monthly Australia. They’ll also be invited to present their essay as part of the official 2015/16 MPavilion season in Melbourne.
The MPavilion / Art Monthly Writing Award aims to create an opportunity for writers to contribute to the ongoing international art and design conversation—to foster creativity, explore the changing role of design, and bring the discussion to new audiences.
Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday 30 June 2015. The winning writer will be notified by 15 July 2015, and will be required to have their essay ready for publication by 31 August 2015.
