APPLICATIONS OPEN: THE 2016 MPAVILION / ART MONTHLY WRITING AWARD
Now in its second year, our writing award is open for submissions again.
As part of our commitment to celebrating the value of design, each year MPavilion teams up with Art Monthly Australasia to offer a prize and commission in support of new critical writing. The award is administered by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).
Australian writers are invited to submit a 200-word proposal for a 2,000-word essay exploring one or more aspects of the flourishing field of interdisciplinary practice within art and design today.
The winning writer will receive $3,000 to write their essay for publication in the November issue of Art Monthly Australasia. They’ll also be invited to present their piece as part of the official 2016/17 MPavilion MTalks season in Melbourne.
The MPavilion / Art Monthly Writing Award aims to create an opportunity for writers to contribute to the ongoing international art and design conversation. Last year’s recipient, Dr Julia Jones, explored the dynamic works that can be produced at the intersection of gardening, art and design practices in ‘A growing medium: The garden in art and design’. You can read her essay in Art Monthly Australasia issue 284, October 2015.
Applications for this year’s award close on 18 June 2016. To apply, visit visualarts.net.au/nava-grants/.
Best of luck, everyone!
