Australian Chamber Orchestra

Founded in 1975, the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) is one of the world’s most lauded chamber ensembles. Led since 1989 by outstanding Australian violinist Richard Tognetti, the ACO is renowned for its inspired programming and unrivalled virtuosity, energy and individuality. Its unique performances extend across six centuries, spanning popular masterworks, pieces specially commissioned for the ensemble and adventurous cross-artform projects—including collaborations with leading and varied artists such as singer Katie Noonan, entertainer Barry Humphries and illustrator Shaun Tan. In 2015, the ACO celebrates its fortieth anniversary (and Richard’s twenty-fifth year as artistic director) with a program of Mozart’s three final symphonies—which, fittingly, Richard performed in his first year at the helm.
