Guy Blackman

Guy Blackman founded iconic Australian independent record label Chapter Music (alongside partner Ben O’Connor) in 1992, as a seventeen-year-old whizkid. But that’s not the only musical trick up his sleeve: Guy has also played in bands such as Sleepy Township, Minimum Chips and Montero, and has maintained an intermittently rewarding solo career. His 2008 album, Adult Baby, is a modern classic, featuring grown-up white funk staple Gayle—and the prospect of a follow-up is twinkling on the horizon. In the meantime, Guy can be found holding it down in sophisticated Melbourne bars and restaurants around dinnertime, moonlighting as DJ Principal Blackman.
