Melbourne Movement

Melbourne Movement fosters budding, talented Australian designers. Founded in 1999 by Kjell Grant (a design professor at RMIT University, as well as an accomplished designer in his own right), and supported by the City of Melbourne and Monash Art, Design and Architecture, the collective helps young designers commercialise their creations and raises awareness, both nationally and internationally, about the value of good Australian design. Each year Melbourne Movement is invited to exhibit emerging talent at Milan’s Salone Satellite—where, in 2004, Melbourne Movement member Lisa Vincitorio’s stainless-steel ‘Fruit Loop’ fruit bowl was picked up by renowned Italian design company Alessi.
