Spiros Panigirakis

Spiros Panigirakis is a Melbourne-based artist known for his strong social history and socially engaged practice that examines how communities form and are organised. In his practice, he is interested in the way presentational devices, furniture and organisational frameworks influence the construction of meaning, form and sociability. Spiros is a lecturer in the faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Monash University and was a finalist in the 2014 Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture for Moorabbin, a complex investigation of the suburb he calls home. His work Garden State was part of the National Gallery of Victoria’s Melbourne Now exhibition in 2013/14.
