Unstrap your helmet at MPavilion this Sunday evening: we’re the last musical stop on the Great MMW Bike Ride! Hosted by local-legend label Bedroom Suck Records as part of Melbourne Music Week’s Self-Made series, the ride is a pedal-powered music tour of the city, starting at 1.30pm and stopping wherever a gig can (and will) take place: in hidden back alleys, wide-open Docklands spaces, arts precinct forecourts—and, finally, at MPavilion. Ride between roving performances by Bedroom Suck artists Ela Stiles, Mick Turner, Free Time and Chloe Alison Escott—and ride alongside them as you sightsee and socialise. Then, at 5pm, it’s time for the final gig in the gardens: kick down your stand, lay down a rug and enjoy your refreshment of choice from the Kiosk as Superstar let loose their coastal melodies and warbling drones underneath the MPavilion canopy.
Tickets for the Great MMW Bike Ride are $15 each, and available here. Everyone’s welcome to ride the whole day, or pop down sans-bike at 5pm for the free gig. Listen to Superstar’s track ‘Folding Gold’ here, and we’ll see you and your well-ridden wheels on the grass.
