Chapter Music presents The Stevens and Brain Children DJs

Pack a rug on Friday morning—you’ll be kicking back on it this Friday evening to the sounds of the Stevens. The band’s debut (twenty-four song!) full-length A History of Hygiene was covered over with a woozy layer of home-recording fuzz and garage-rock scratch; so not hygienic, but if you hose it off there’s some pristine songwriting underneath. Founding members Alex Macfarlane and Travis MacDonald cite Wire, Guided by Voices, R Stevie Moore and Flying Nun as influences. Taken together, it sounds like this rare Stevens live set will be good for some end-of-week rock catharsis.

Get down early, or stay late—the pop genii will be joined by the impeccable DJ duo Brain Children: rock’n’roll everyman Mikey Young (Eddy Current, Total Control) and his good buddy Max Kohane (Crumbs, Agents of Abhorrence).
