As part of Melbourne Festival, self-taught performer Mick Stuart takes a break from his band-leading role in LIMBO—the circus cabaret extravaganza playing at the Famous Spiegeltent—to bring his Polymba to MPavilion for a lunchtime recital. If you haven’t heard of a Polymba before, that’s probably because Mick invented it. Essentially a wooden box housing fifteen amplified African thumb pianos of various tones, it’s a unique musical creation that produces a fittingly distinctive sound. Bring your lunch and treat your ears to a rare experience, thanks to one of Melbourne’s most accomplished musical mavericks.
