Deaf Slam Poetry jam

Presented by the Signal Curators as part of Signal Summer—a creative arts program that invites all young people aged between thirteen and twenty-five to work alongside professional artists in a jam-packed summertime series of workshops, conversations, exhibitions and performances—Medina Sumovic and Walter Kadiki drop by MPavilion to perform Deaf Slam Poetry with young deaf people, weaving their signed poetry and visual vernacular magic into poetic performance. Medina is one of Australia’s leading deaf actors and has written and directed sell-out theatre performances, while Walter is known for his profound and engaging signed poetry and storytelling. Together, they will lead a very special performance event that tells stories, bridges cultures, and is accessible to both deaf and hearing audiences. All welcome!
