Jefa Greenaway

Jefa Greenaway is an award-winning architect and interior designer, and a director of both Greenaway Architects and Indigenous Architecture and Design Victoria, a not-for-profit that provides support and advice about architecture to Victorian Aboriginal people, and encourages architects to be more engaged with Indigenous culture. A descendant of the Wailwan and Kamilaroi peoples of northwest New South Wales, Jefa is the first and only registered Indigenous architect in Victoria. His practice’s projects range from small-scale residences and extensions to multi-unit developments, office fit-outs and cultural projects—such as the recently completed Koorie Heritage Trust’s new headquarters at Federation Square. Jefa received the prestigious AIA Dulux Study Tour’s Emerging Architect Prize in 2011, and continues to champion design leadership through his practice, in academia and as a member of the City of Melbourne’s Public Art Advisory panel.
