Design, culture and identity: The role of landscape architecture in shaping Melbourne
Sat 17 Oct 2015, 3.00pm
What role has landscape design played in the physical and cultural evolution of Melbourne? How do public-space designers tackle the trilogy of mental, physical and environmental health? Join us for a conversation between eminent landscape architects Steve Calhoun and Professor Gini Lee as they discuss the relationship between people and place. Presented by Tract Consultants—who have had forty years of practice in shaping places for civic interaction—this afternoon discussion will lead us through a designer’s process: from initial thoughts about the location’s numerous physical demands to a final, resilient solution that welcomes the public, allowing them to use the space as an everyday conduit for movement, rest or play.
