Shane McGrath

Shane McGrath is a Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist whose often large-scale work establishes relationships between historical narrative, architecture, place, form, material and community. Shane uses comedy and a childlike sense of play—with the amplification of the ridiculous—as a conduit to discuss topics on difficult or awkward themes. He has shown major public artworks in New Zealand and Australia, including commissions for the Wellington Sculpture Trust, Melbourne Airport and Sculpture by the Sea. One of his most recent projects, Market Sports, premiered in August 2015 as part of Melbourne Fringe.
