Ela Stiles

Singer-songwriter Ela Stiles made her musical start as a member of Sydney indie favourites Songs, and then as a driving force in Melbourne outfit Bushwalking—with whom she recorded two full-lengths: First Time (Army of Bad Luck) and No Enter (Chapter Music). In 2014, Ela released her debut solo LP, made up entirely of a cappella performances, on local label Bedroom Suck Records. Across its two sides—the first recorded and mixed by Jack Farley (who also worked with Ela on No Enter), the second by John Duncan, and both mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control)—Ela’s voice rises and falls, creating a complex and layered collection of rhythm and melody.
