Ghassan Hage

Lebanese-Australian academic Ghassan Hage—a Future Generation Professor of Anthropology and Social Theory at the University of Melbourne—works in and around the realms of multiculturalism and migration. Previously a professor of Anthropology at the University of Sydney, he has held visiting professorships at Harvard, the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, the University of Copenhagen, and the American University of Beirut. Ghassan has written widely about issues of racism, nationalism and cultural diversity—including in his groundbreaking books White Nation: Fantasies of white supremacy in a multicultural society (2003) and Against Paranoid Nationalism: Searching for hope in a shrinking society (2006).
