Hellenic Museum

Hellenic Museum is a cultural hub on William Street that supports Australian arts, film and visual performance—with a Hellenic flavour. Constructed in 1869 and designed by architect JJ Clark, the museum’s heritage-listed building houses an extensive permanent collection and a regular program of contemporary exhibitions, music and film—as well as a high-level education program—celebrating the heritage of ancient and modern Greece.

Hellenic Museum is also the new home of Sean Godsell’s 2014 MPavilion. A gift to the City of Melbourne, the fully automated, blossoming structure lives on in the museum’s courtyard garden, behind Mr Clark’s Renaissance-revival edifice, ready to house a year-round program of exhibitions and cultural events.
