Kt Spit

Kt Spit (also known as Katie Collins) is a multimedia artist and musician from Melbourne. Her work interrogates masculinised notions of subcultural subjectivity, digital embodiment and self-representation in social networking, web cultures and new media. She holds a BFA (Honours) from RMIT, and has toured internationally with her musical/video project Kt Spit; locally, she launched album Combluotion at West Space in 2015. In her performance, Kt embraces DIY “girly” aesthetics to create, in her own words: “( anti-dream girl<> fantasy escapism 69mentalillness//sexual freeware-trauma qt# lo fi, digi+guitar, queer/ bedroom girl raw; confessional> anti-patriarchangel/narcisister/survival/ political+ awkward (internet girl music)”.
