Lou Hubbard

Lou Hubbard 'Dog Catsuit' detail 2014. Photo by Christo Crocker.

Lou Hubbard is head of photography at the Victorian College of the Arts. And as an artist, she makes assemblage sculptures, videos and room-scape installations, and sometimes makes photos and collages. The horse is a motif that recurs in her work, epitomising a focus on the dynamics of training, submission and the aesthetics of sentimentality. Now represented by Sarah Scout Presents Melbourne, Lou has been exhibiting since 2000 across Australia and internationally. She is the recipient of Australia Council residencies in Barcelona and at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and of the international artists’ residency AIR Antwerpen, in Belgium.
