NO ZU

‘Heat beat’ pioneers NO ZU create “sounds of the New Age—a gaudy mixture of colours and textures that dance a desert dance of the antipodean kind”. They’re also unstoppable: they released their first LP, Life, in 2012; launched a 12″, Medusa Music, via Home Loan Records in 2015; and are due to see off their second LP, Afterlife, in early 2016 via Chapter Music. In 2014, the eight-piece collective—led by Nicolaas Oogjes—contributed the track ‘Raw Vis Vision’ to Cut Copy’s Oceans Apart, an eighty-minute mix celebrating Melbourne’s underground dance scene, and played an epically funky Melbourne Music Week show in the same year. Plus, they’ve instigated an ongoing collaboration with New York City punk-funk icon Sal P (of Liquid Liquid)—which included a fearsome festival set for Sugar Mountain in January 2015.
