Luke Jaaniste

Luke Jaaniste is a composer, sonic artist, community facilitator—and co-director of public-sound project Super Critical Mass (who led not one but two bell-ringing workshops during our 2014/15 season). He studied composition and musicology at the Queensland Conservatorium, and then completed a PhD in ambient experience at QUT before becoming a research fellow. Luke is an artist-in-residence at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Brisbane, where he is also curating the Mesmerism Festival alongside invited artists. In dark chasms, psychedelic warehouses and wide open spaces throughout Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Mesmerism presents super-ambient vibrational sound fields—plus Luke’s newest works from his ongoing projects including TRANCE PIANO, PORTAL, FLOOR CHOIR, SUB TERROR and HHAARRPP.
