Hotel Hotel is a hotel. A place of collaborative craftsmanship conceived of and made by artists, makers, designers and fantasists. The sixty-eight rooms (in Canberra) are dressed with salvaged and restored twentieth-century Australian furniture, original artworks stockpiled over ten years, objects collected in nomadic times, and artisan-made furnishings. Finishing touches include Aesop amenities and heated bathroom floors.
Beginning in November 2015, Hotel Hotel presents Fix and Make: a series of workshops and talks that aim to bring people together to actively question our consumption of—and relationship with—objects through the practical, the experimental and the philosophical. Collectively, with small acts of fixing and making, we can get a better understanding of how things work.
