James Henry

Singer-songwriter, musician, engineer, director and more, James Henry is a musical Renaissance man. His diverse skills have seen him perform as a guitarist on the recent Black Arm Band tour of the UK, sing in the choir (and also play guitar) as part of the Archie Roach Into the Bloodstream tour, and take on the role as resident engineer for Songlines Aboriginal Music. He’s attracted commissions from the City of Melbourne to compose for experimental medias, and has been appointed musical director of the Dreamtime at the ’G performances—the centrepiece of the AFL’s Indigenous Round, which celebrates the contribution of all Indigenous players. As a solo artist, James specialises in simple ’60s-style stripped-back pop-folk, his carefully crafted songs designed to educate, inspire and humour.
