Rae Ganim

Rae Ganim is a legendary Australian textile designer, and director of Rae Ganim Designs Pty Ltd. After working with fashion designer Prue Acton in the 1970s, Rae launched her colourful namesake label in 1978, expanding from fashion to textiles and homewares. Her signature brightly coloured Australiana has been stocked internationally, used in commercial interiors and corporate uniforms, collected by museums and showered with awards. In 1998 Rae was inducted into the Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame.

To younger Melburnians, Rae is known as the proprietor of cult Fitzroy homewares boutique Ganim’s Store. A favourite shopping destination for Melbourne’s design community, Ganim’s Store offered “a lot of very useful things from all over the world” for two and a half years, before shuttering in February 2014. Today Rae is in demand as a consultant on colour, trend and product development.
