This Public Life

This Public Life: Festival of Landscape Architecture brings together local and visiting thinkers and practitioners from the arts and sciences to explore public life through the lenses of life and death, love and longing, and participation and spectacle. The eleven-day program of events includes city-wide tours (including the walking-and-drawing kind), exhibitions, installations, screenings and talks, plus a conference and research summit—all developed by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects in partnership with a number of cultural and academic institutions.

For the 2015 festival, hosted in Melbourne and running 10–20 October, conference speakers include Sacha Coles (director of ASPECT Studios), Natalie Jeremijenko (environmental artist, engineer and inventor), Adam Nitschke (manager of master planning at Parks Victoria), Dr Katrina Simon (designer and visual artist) and David van der Leer (executive director of Van Alen Institute in New York City).
