Artists Bek Berger, Dan Koop and Kieran Swann first conceived Independent Convergence last May, as a day-long conference where independent artists could form a creative community that thinks differently. Now, join Dan and arts sector doyenne Esther Anatolitis for a day-long symposium at MPavilion that explores the realities of being an independent artist in Australia.
How do we combine artistic practice with day jobs? How do we balance a deep immersion in our art with more playful, experimental modes? When do we say yes or no to new projects? How can we see our fellow artists as collaborators and confidants, not competitors? And how can we engage our community in long-term advocacy that makes the arts sector stronger and more welcoming? Today, we continue a project that’s progressive, inclusive, timely… and fiercely independent.
Independent Convergence is free and open to all. Click the booking link above to find out more and register your interest for the day—or even propose a provocation.
